Getting to Know Hunter Ray

Name:
 Hunter Ray

Where are you from:  South Haven, KS

Years at I.S.: 2

What have you been doing since camp ended last summer?
Since camp ended I have been staying busy with college classes and familiarizing myself with the tactics of warfare (video games). I have also been putting in a lot of work to the intramural program here at Pitt State.

What is your favorite memory from the summer?
There’s no possible way for me to have just one favorite memory from the summer, but one memory that I always think of is when we took the junior division and had Owen’s Schengen’s and had a camper from each bunk come up and tell the joke and by the end of the standup comedy skit everybody was belly laughing and had tears rolling down our faces.

What did you learn from your experience this summer?
After leaving camp this summer and coming back to the “real” world I’ve noticed that I am more responsible, patient and think quicker on my feet.

What are you looking forward to most about next summer?
I am looking forward to seeing my campers again to see how much they have grown and find out more who they are. I also cannot wait to see all of the staff members and meet the new staff members that will be there this year.

What advice do you have for staff who are going to be at Iroquois Springs for the first time this summer?
My best advice to any first time counselor would be, you only get out what you put in. Putting in a lot of hard work and effort goes along way with the kids and how everything works at camp. The kids feed off of your energy so bring your A game every day!
