Name: Anthony (AJ) Johnson
Where are you from: Orlando, Florida
Years at I.S.: 3
What is your favorite memory from last summer?
Witnessing the impact I had on some of the kids and that they had on me. There were plenty of teachable moments for both sides and seeing them have a lasting effect was awesome. Nothing tops that feeling.
What did you learn from your experience last summer?
I learned how to be more flexible and patient. Things don’t always go as planned and being able to work under those situations is key as a counselor.
What are you looking forward to most about the upcoming summer?
I’m really looking forward to seeing everyone, whether it be the returning counselors and campers or the new faces.
What advice do you have for staff who are going to be at Iroquois Springs for the first time this summer?
My advice would be to fully embrace the experience. Coasting by kind of takes away from it, and you’ll enjoy the summer on a whole other level if you immerse yourself in it 100%.
As a returner, how are you looking to grow this summer as a counselor?
In any way I can. Both summers have helped me grow in different ways and I can’t wait to see what this summer brings.
