THE POEM

Osiris.
God of rebirth and death.
Started with a human life,
Now brings pain and strife.
Also referred to as Rah, the eye of heaven.
We’ll return to ours in 2007: Iroquois Springs.
The friendships we made,
The thoughts that will last,
Although the time has gone so fast.
The spirit of camp,
Is something no one can break.
And the laughter we’ve shared
Is something no one can take.
We are all sad,
And we think it’s the end.
But in only a year
We’ll be together again.
Osiris was protected
As a high ruler by Shen,
Which is the Earth.
Because of Osiris’ gift of rebirth.
The people are loved and nurtured
And because of that,
The symbol for these
Is the udjat.
The was is a symbol
Of dominion and power.
Like the love for our friends
In our final hour.
Infinity embodies our eternal reign,
Like leaving each other causes us pain.

And so as color week comes to a close
We wish good luck to Mississippi Blue,
Our friends not foes.
Our passion is strong
We are Osiris Gold.
These memories will always be cherished and told.

THE ESSAY

Ancient Egypt
Unbearable heat.
Imagine.
You are a tomb builder under the blazing sun, feeling its continuous and merciless rays pounding down upon you. Brick by brick, being lashed by superiors uncertainty and mistrust consume your mind. The builders beside you just might want to indulge their cannibalistic impulses and the crypt you are constructing just might be your own. Just before you implode of pure fear, Osiris steps in…
“Thank you kind master.”
Osiris, also known as Asar, the God responsible for transforming the Egyptians from cannibals to agriculturalists. Amidst his plethora of powers, he had a controlling hand in all matters aquatic including the powerful Nile River, the majestic and second largest river in the world. Bringing forth and sustaining life in the delta of our ancestral home.
Ruling with a mighty hand, and simultaneously forging friendships with his subjects. The Gold Team endeavors to embody the spirit of Osiris, staying strong throughout the competition, maintaining ties of friendship with those on the opposing team.

Egyptian lore tells of how Osiris was murdered by his jealous brother. However, it continues that his wife Isis helped to resurrect him. His immortal spirit was stronger than ever before. Just as the Gold Team have relentlessly come back bigger and better only through the help of every member of our team.
Osiris, God of life, death, and rebirth. The life force that is representative of the strength and intensity of our team. Death is an inevitable part of life, just as the Gold Team is sure to meet with some set backs. However, Osiris’ immortality guarantees that we will come back with more determination and intensity, resurrecting us into the eternal life of Iroquois Springs.

THE MARCH

(Melody: Blink 182, First Date)
Verse 1:
Gold is here, ready to fight
And we will, Dominate tonight
Blue Team, Watch your back
Be ready, for our attack
Osiris, will conquer all
Mississippi, is sure to fall
Working hard, everyday
Blue just, get out of our way (1,2)
Chorus:
Lets go, (1,2) Gold Team
This weeks almost over
Our time (1)
To shine (1)
Gold will reign supreme
We’re here, we’re ready
We won’t stop for anything
So be here, and be ready
We’ll leave our mark forever
Verse 2:
At the pool, and at the track
Gold’s spirit, was never at a lack
Standing tall, we show no fear
Making sure, that blue was never near.
We strive, to do our best
We were always, better then the rest
Color week, is ours to take.
Gold’s bond, will never break
Chorus:
Lets go, (1,2) Gold Team
This weeks almost over
Our time (1)
to shine (1)
Gold will reign supreme
We’re here, we’re ready
We won’t stop for anything
So be here, and be ready
We’ll leave our mark forever

(1,2,3)
GO GOLD!!!!!!!!!

THE ALMA MATER

(Melody: The Verve Pipe, Freshmen)
Verse One:
Sitting here tonight I realize
Summer has past and soon we’ll have to say goodbye
I’m here crying sighing
With my head on your shoulder,
Not knowing what tomorrow brings (1) without you
Pre-Chorus:
So afraid to be alone
What am I without you
Cannot leave my summer home
We fell in love with this great place
Chorus:
It’s the memories,
And the friends we’ve made
All here tonight,
Blue and Gold unite as one.
The Tears we Cry,
And the laughter
Keeps us coming back
Year by year
Here at Iroquois Springs.
Verse Two:
The distance keeps us far,
But our love keeps us together
I’ll be thinking of you always
And I know our bonds will last forever.
Here crying sighing
With my head on your shoulder
Knowing that tomorrow we will still be together
Pre-Chorus
So afraid to be alone
What am I without you
Cannot leave my summer home
We fell in love with this great place
Chorus:
It’s the memories,
And the friends we’ve made
All here tonight,
Blue and Gold unite as one.
The Tears we Cry,
And the laughter
Keeps us coming back
Year by year
Here at Iroquois Springs.
Verse Three:
As the months begin to fade
I’m still thinking of you, awaiting a new start
Now we’re all crying sighing
With our hands held tight
Knowing that you’ll never leave me standing here alone
Pre-Chorus
Girls: Not afraid to be alone
Boys: Always thinking of you
Girls: Remembering my summer home
All: Staying in our hearts forever
Chorus:
It’s the memories,
And the friends we’ve made
All here tonight,
Blue and Gold unite as one.
Solo:
The tears we cry,
And the laughter
Keeps us coming back
Year by year
Here at Iroquois Springs.
All:
The tears we cry,
And the laughter
Keeps us coming back
Year by year
Here at Iroquois Springs.
