Touring 2020
There may be snow on the ground in Rock Hill, but that doesn’t stop prospective camp families from thinking about the summer months ahead and planning a tour of Iroquois Springs. Before we know it, the weather will get warmer, the sun will be shining, and our summer tours will begin. Touring a variety of camps is a great way to see firsthand the different facilities, programming, and philosophy that camps offer. With so many amazing accredited camp programs out there, being able to see camps in action is a great help in choosing the camp that will best suit your child’s needs.
Searching for the perfect summer camp is an important undertaking, and we understand the time and energy families put into this process. The goal for most families is to find a camp that will take their camper from elementary through their high school years, so finding a program that supports your family’s values, as well as child’s interests and personality, is key. After browsing through a variety of camp web sites and brochures, speaking with camp referral services and friends, and setting up home visits with camp directors, get your calendar out and schedule a few summer tours to get a closer look.
Touring prospective camp families and giving them a glimpse into the world of Iroquois Springs bring us great pride. We appreciate the value of these visits, and can’t wait to show each and every family the difference an Iroquois Springs summer can make. In addition to the beautiful facilities and thoughtful programming, we love to share how camp helps kids develop greater independence, resilience, empathy and self-esteem. We share our passion for creating an environment where kids feel safe to step outside of their comfort zone, experience socializing in an unplugged setting, and cherish camp traditions and the lifelong friendships they have developed. Campers and staff alike enjoy greeting prospective families and telling them all about camp life. While tour guides give a thorough explanation of a day in the life of a camper, and a visit to all program areas and facilities, current campers are there to talk about their love of camp. Campers can’t wait to show off their latest art project, skills they are learning on the basketball court, and the friends they have made.
While on tour, we encourage prospective parents and campers to ask questions, lots of questions. Parents may want to know about safety and emergency policies, while campers may ask about bunk life and activities being offered. All questions and concerns are important and encouraged. Our private tours give families the comfort to discuss their individual needs and interests. We want families to walk away from the tour feeling like they have a complete understanding of what Iroquois Springs is all about.
Summer after summer, families that tour camp tell us how knowledgeable and warm their tour guide was, and how welcoming and kind our campers and staff are. They can feel the spirit, love and energy at every stop, from outdoor adventure all the way to the waterfront. Families that are touring become a part of the positive energy that is Iroquois Springs, and tours very often result in enrollment in our Rookie Day and Explorers weekend experience, giving camper (entering 1st -4th grades) another opportunity to visit camp and become an Iroquois Springs camper for a day or a weekend. We can’t wait to meet the new prospective families this summer and share the Iroquois Springs experience of traditions, community, spirit and friendship.
